Arpad Szapanyos

Ranger, ecologist layman

Passionate about all that nature means, Árpád is particularly skilled in identifying birds' nests and in recognizing their habitats. He participated as a research assistant in research projects that focused on the Crex crex (Corn crake) species and Lanius minor (lesser grey shrike) species, as well as on the inventory of pasture and grassland habitats with primordial tree varieties in the Natura 2000 SCI Sighisoara - Tarnava Mare.

Graduated from the Faculty of Biology-Geology of Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. Doctor of Biology, specializes in the ecology of amphibian populations. Moreover, he is interest in landscape ecology and the study of biological systems resilience.

 

 

Cosmin Ioan Moga

Cosmin Ioan Moga

Ornithologist, landscape ecology

Graduated from the Faculty of Biology and Geology of Babeş-Bolyai University and the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Agricultural Sciences in Cluj-Napoca. Doctor of Biology, he specializes in avifauna ecology, understanding the relationships between bird species and components of habitats and landscapes. He is also concerned with the study of landscape ecology, the influence of the structural elements of the landscape on ornithofauna.

 

Luminiţa Holban

Luminita Holban

Director with more than ten years' experience in project management and grants, Luminiţa Holban headed the team that won the custody of the Secular Oak Reservation from Breite in 2006 along with the Sighişoara Local Council. Since then, along with other members of the team, Luminiţa participated in the elaboration of the reservation management plan, as well as in the financing, implementation and promotion of the various conservation activities and involvement of the community in the management of the Breite Plateau. Luminiţa subsequently compiled and submitted a LIFE+ financing application, on behalf of Ecotransilvania, for the project proposal Conservation of Corn crake (Crex crex) in the Natura 2000 "Hârtibaciului Plateau" site. Furthermore, Luminiţa coordinated the application for financing for the project INTEGRATED, CONSERVATIVE AND SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF THE NATURA 2000 SITES IN FIZEŞULUI BASIN, submitted to SOP ENV Axis 4 at the same time as the application for taking custody of the protected areas ROSCI0099 Lake Ştiucilor-Sic-Puini- Legiilor Valley and ROSPA0104 Fizeşului Valley -Sic- Ştiucilor Lake.

Graduated from the Faculty of Biology-Geology of Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. Doctor in Biology, she is specialized in plant diseases and in the ecology of the ground cover.

Ornithologist, scientific manager of Natura 2000 sites in Fizeş

Graduated from the Faculty of Biology and Geology of Babeş-Bolyai University. Doctor in Biology, specializes in studying the biology and ecology of avifauna, especially aquatic birds and raptors. He also has a great experience in drafting documentation on the designation of protected areas of national and international interest as well as knowledge of environmental legislation.

Graduate of the Faculty of Biology and Geology of Babeş-Bolyai University. Doctor in Biology, specializes in the study of biology and ecology of avifauna, especially aquatic birds and diurnal raptors.

 

Minodora Holban

Minodora Holban

Biologist

Graduate of the Faculty of Biology of the University of Bucharest, Minodora Holban has a long experience both in field research and in coordinating ecological education activities with children and young people. Within the project "Involvement of local communities in the conservation of pasture and pasture habitats with secular oaks in Transylvanian Saxon villages" implemented by Mihai Eminescu Trust Sighişoara Foundation, she made observations and collected data on the anthropogenic impact, habitat parameters, determination of species, dimensions and characteristics of secular trees. Within the project "A forest for every school", she defended presentations and workshops in the schools in Şeica Mică, Micăsasa, Moşna, Mediaş, Dârlos and participated with students and teachers in planting trees. Minodora Holban has also completed professional training courses in agritourism and communication in protected areas.

 

Lucian Holban

Lucian Holban

Geochemist, rural development expert

Graduate of the Faculty of Geology, Al. I. Cuza University in Iasi, as well as a postgraduate course in the design and management of European projects, Lucian Holban is a member of the scientific council of two Natura 2000 sites in Transylvania (ROSCI0227 Sighişoara - Târnava Mare and ROSPA0099 Hârtibaciului Plateau). Lucian also participated in the team that drew up and carried out the "Local Development Strategy" of the Mediaşului Plateau Local Action Group (Axis IV LEADER from NRDP), as well as the coordination of some geological studies and medium impact studies in Romania and Kazakhstan.

Graduate of Vasile Goldiş University in Arad, major in Marketing. She has a great experience in monitoring, implementing and financial reporting of internationally funded projects, as well as in project management.

Alexandra Nicoleta Pop

Legal Expert

3rd year student of Simion Barnutiu Faculty of Law within Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu, she has a solid knowledge of the environmental legislation issues and is also involved in numerous biodiversity research and conservation projects with an emphasis on anthropogenic impact assessment.

 

 

Steven Wright

Steven Wright

Communication - With more than 20 years of experience in international communication and journalism, Steven is a graduate of the Faculty of Classic Languages of University of Manchester's Classics and London College of Communication. Passionate about Romania and a good speaker of Romanian, Steven worked for three years in the media in Bucharest and subsequently made shows about Romania at the BBC radio station in the UK.
